How to register with STIM.

Register with STIM, Sweden's society for composers, songwriters, and publishers, to collect performance and mechanical royalties on your works in Sweden and worldwide through reciprocal agreements. Free to join.

You will need:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Swedish personal number if you have one (not required for non-residents)
  • Bank account details

    • STIM administers both performance and mechanical rights, so a single membership covers both for Swedish usage.

    Why this matters

    STIM collects from Swedish broadcasters, venues, and streaming services and distributes internationally via reciprocal agreements — a free membership with broad reach.

    Common mistake

    Delaying because you are not Swedish. STIM accepts international members; if Sweden is a meaningful market for you, register and start collecting.

    Register Your Works

    Declare each composition in the STIM portal:

  • Title (match DSP metadata exactly)
  • Duration
  • Co-writer IPI numbers and splits
  • ISRC codes for each recording

    Why this matters

    STIM pays on registered works. Unregistered compositions generate royalties that cannot be matched to you.

    Common mistake

    Leaving out ISRCs — they are how Swedish streaming reports are matched to your works.

    After you register

    STIM covers compositions. Swedish recording artists also need SAMI to collect the performer neighbouring rights on their master recordings.
