Confirm SPEDIDAM Is the Right Society

France splits performer neighbouring rights across two societies:

  • ADAMI — featured performers (soloists, principal artists, conductors)
  • SPEDIDAMsession musicians and secondary/backing performers

  • If you played on recordings as a session or backing musician (not as the featured artist), SPEDIDAM is your society. Many working musicians qualify for both depending on the recording.

    Why this matters

Session musicians regularly overlook SPEDIDAM because they assume neighbouring rights only go to featured artists. The session-performer share is real money distributed every cycle.

    Common mistake

Registering only with ADAMI as a featured artist and forgetting your session work. If you were a backing musician on other artists' records, that participation is collected through SPEDIDAM.

    Register and Submit Participation Statements

Register at spedidam.fr. Registration is free.

SPEDIDAM pays based on declared participation in recording sessions. For each recording, submit a participation statement (feuille de présence / session declaration) with:

  • Recording/session title
  • ISRC code where available
  • Your instrument and role
  • Session date and the producer/label
  • Why this matters

SPEDIDAM distributes on documented session participation. Without a participation declaration, there is no record that you played on the recording — and no way to route your share.

    Common mistake

Not keeping session documentation. Save your session sheets and ISRCs — they are the evidence SPEDIDAM needs to attribute royalties to you.
