Decide Between Soundreef and SIAE

Soundreef is a for-profit competitor to SIAE. In Italy it operates through LEA (Liberi Editori e Autori), the non-profit entity legally entitled to collect on its behalf within Italian territory.


Soundreef is known for transparent, frequent reporting and a digital-first dashboard, and is popular with independent and modern songwriters. SIAE still has the broadest physical/event licensing footprint.

Why this matters

This is an either/or decision for the same rights. Picking the society that fits how your music actually earns (digital vs live/event) maximizes what you collect.

Common mistake

Registering the same works with both SIAE and Soundreef. This double-claim creates disputes — choose one mandate per right.

    Soundreef pays on registered works just like any society. Its value is transparency and reporting frequency — but only for the works you actually declare.

    Common mistake

    Leaving ISRCs off your registrations. Digital royalties are matched by ISRC; without it your streaming income cannot be attributed.

    After you register

    You cannot mandate both Soundreef and SIAE for the same rights. If you previously registered works with SIAE, resign or reassign those rights before declaring them with Soundreef/LEA to avoid conflicts.
