Understand SABAM vs PlayRight
Belgian artists frequently confuse these two:
A performing songwriter needs both. The Belgian producer/label share of neighbouring rights is collected by SIMIM — PlayRight represents the performer side.
Belgian recording artists who only register with SABAM forfeit their performer neighbouring rights from radio, TV, and public performance — a completely separate income stream.
Assuming SABAM covers the recording too. It covers the composition only — performers need PlayRight (and producers/labels need SIMIM).
