Understand AIE vs AGEDI

Spanish neighbouring rights are split between two societies:

  • AIE = the performer share (artists and musicians)
  • AGEDI = the producer share (the owner of the master recording)

  • If you are an independent artist who owns your masters, you are both performer and producer — register with AIE for the performer share and AGEDI for the producer share to collect 100%.

    Why this matters

Self-releasing Spanish artists who register only with AIE collect only the performer half. The producer share collected by AGEDI is forfeited unless you register as a producer.

    Common mistake

Assuming AIE covers everything. AIE is performers only — the producer/master share is a separate registration with AGEDI.

Register as a Producer and Submit Your Catalog

Apply at agedi.es as a phonogram producer. Provide:

  • Proof you own/produced the master recordings (distribution records, label name)
  • Government-issued ID and tax details
  • Bank account details (IBAN)

  • Then submit each recording with its ISRC, title, featured artist, and release year.

    Why this matters

AGEDI matches Spanish broadcast and public-performance reports against registered ISRCs to pay the producer share. Unregistered masters cannot be matched.

    Common mistake

Not submitting ISRCs or proof of ownership. AGEDI needs both to confirm you are the producer and to attribute plays to your recordings.
