DJ Download Store

How Beatport pays royalties.

Beatport is a download store for DJs, not a streaming service — a single $1.49–$2.49 track sale can outearn thousands of mainstream streams. Payout as a percentage of that sale depends entirely on your distribution path: releasing through a distributor directly can keep as much as 90%, while a label deal typically splits 40–60% to the artist.

Payment model
Per-download sale, split according to your distribution or label agreement — not a streaming pool.
Estimated rate
Download split typically 40–90% to the artist depending on distributor vs. label deal; Beatport also runs a streaming component (Beatport LINK) with a reported per-stream rate well above mainstream DSPs.

How to collect it

  • Distribute through a service with a Beatport delivery agreement (most major distributors support this).
  • Register the composition with a PRO and publisher to collect the publishing side, same as any other release.
